| It remained a grocery warehouse well into
the '60s when it started to do work as a general warehouse
building. The building is four stories tall, making it the
tallest building in downtown Fergus Falls. Each floor
is 5,000 square feet. Currently, the lower three floors
are set up for retail, and the top floor houses our www.vintagetrims.com
inventory.
The building was designed by the noted Minnesota architect
C.A.P. Turner, who also designed the famous Duluth Lift
Bridge and many Minneapolis warehouses of the period.
Our Fergus Falls building was the first building designed
using the unique "mushroom column" design
to support the interior. The column system was used
repeatedly from then on in many of his large building
designs, including the large Munsingwear building in
the Minneapolis warehouse district.
The building and the 99Center store is a favorite with
visitors and locals alike. |
